Rejuvenation of Living Monuments at Astodia Chakla

Aim of the semester was to have a comprehensive understanding about conservation led urban regeneration through the lens of the world heritage site of Ahmedabad. The process included studying the nomination dossier and all allied documents for the WHS of Ahmedabad, learning about the Historic Urban Lanscapes approach, along with certain thematic discourses currently being used and researched in the field, selection of a theme-appropriate site within the WHS boundaries, documentation and mapping of the same, archival research, stakeholder consultation, value assessment, issue identification, developing vision for proposal, and ending with detailing out the proposal strategies.
