The studio focuses on integrating the workplace at a neighborhood scale. The site chosen for the same is Irla Nala located in the heart of JVPD. For the chosen site there has been an attempt to explore the idea of building as a landscape and of low-rise typology. The program to be built on the site is a Textile Incubation Center along with the rehousing of the headquarters of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and a municipal market for the community.
The project is a combination of different stakeholders collaborating at different levels from Academia, Industry, and Government along with the involvement of the community. The idea was of a collaborative platform in the vicinity of Juhu with a multi-faceted program of different user groups culminating into an active public place. The core idea is to create a work environment that is unlike the typical workplace typologies along with the involvement of the community. The project has three major chunks and a walkway running across the site connecting the road and the promenade. The building is a two-storeyed building with a lower for public activities and an upper for private. Programs are organized to provide a view of the Nala for high-usage spaces.
