L3 Studio Title:
From Typewriters to VR Sets - Spatial Impact on Workspaces
Workspaces have existed from millennia but it is only post the industrial revolution that they truly came into their own. As more and more of the workspace moves to the services sector from the manufacturing sector, office have become larger and now walk the fine line between public and private spaces. Design thus needs to respond to this new reality.
Technology has always played a role in influencing design and spaces of every kind are about to see the IoT (Internet of Things) revolution. This has already begun in some ways, but the true impact will be seen once we see large scale 5G adoption across the world.
Workspaces are expected to be at the forefront of this as corporations adopt any tech that gives them an edge in an ever-competitive world.
The Studio aims to expose students to the factors listed above on the design side and will culminate with the students using a VR (virtual reality) set to fine tune and present their design. Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Sketchup will be a necessity to create the 3D model. A physical model will not be required for this Studio.
Students are expected to enrich their planning and presentation skills through this Studio.
