Exchange semester: UNSW, Sydney

Following work presented here is compilation of studios and courses studied in exchange semester in UNSW, Sydney. The main studio was focused on two projects; proposing a design concept for a student housing accommodation on campus. The project (by Ashesha Shah & Kavina Shah) was focused on different readings and academic research where one was supposed to translate the issues faced by students and find affordable solutions for renovating the existing space. The second part of the studio was to prepare a design concept for pop-up for 18 months store of 3 fashion brands in a mall. Additional work

Site study and concluded issues to focus on for the design proposal

Translation of research into concept to develop an accommodation module; designing staircase as a vertical connection

Accommodation module where elements have been pre-fabricated and mass produced to constitute a sustainable construction method with various material options & colour palette

Placing the pre-fabricated accommodation modules to the floor plan with varied experiential communal spaces which give rise to an effective floor layout

Layout constitutes of various elements for display and interaction with the products based on thread being an important element for designing the space

Elements of the pop-up store made with sustainable materials & standard sizes of materials to unfasten easily to reuse them

Material palette & colours chosen keeping in mind the colours of the displayed brand garments allowing a bare canvas for emerging brands to devise

Detailed elements of the signage of the pop-up store

Decoding relevant NCC Design laws for given project brief and site conditions to form a legal agreement with client for further construction and budget

Practical and theoretical approach to basic of theatre and its making
