Chumbi is inspired from the variety of landscapes situated in and around Pelling, a town situated in North Eastern state of Sikkim. The concept is derived from the travel journey and the translation draws cues from the unique experience which the landscapes of Sikkim possess. Articulation of interior elements of each space is associated with a unique landscape and the quality of water which exists in that particular landscape, while also catering the traditional symbolism which exists in the rich Sikkimese culture.
