An architectural/design project goes through various stages of transformation/development before the first brick is laid at site. The design process starts with exploration of conceptual ideas, which evolve in to a tangible form. In later stages, after confronting various challenges posed by functional, structural, constructional, and climatic requirements, the design reaches a level of resolution that can be called as final design. ‘Design Development & Architectural Detailing’ studio is an attempt by the student to take this ‘final design’ to the stage of working drawing by evolving an architectural language. The process involves paying close attention to functional requirements, structural systems, building services, construction details, architectural elements and language.
