Foundation Studio - Craft, History and Computational

The Building Craft module intends to sensitize students to work with crafts and gain understanding and knowledge of working with traditional craft and craftspeople and able to create co-contemporary design. History and Theory dealt with comprehensive study of Design History in making of India. Wide-Angled with key events, invasions and overthrows, religion and dynastic developments, people, social and economical impacts - the course trailed the reasoning in design thinking of built spaces in India. Computational Design focuses on exploring a system to develop a spatial, structural and material organization, taking into account computation logic and materialization in the field of Interior Architecture and Design. The  generative design processes and concepts such as patterns, fractal geometry, cellular automate and self-organization were studied. The studio projects aim at designing such a system to achieve multiple scenarios as output which can be tested to varied conditions, like altering environments, context or even changing program.
