THE BALCONY CHAIR

The aim was to design a chair for semi outdoor spaces like balconies in 2bhk and 3bhk residences that would enhance the idea of socializing. Our case studies led us to explore the balcony spaces as they were less frequently used and we developed the concept of designing a chair that makes the balcony more inviting in terms of socializing. The language of the chair has been kept simple by giving it vibrant colors and fluid shape that enables one to feel the comfort and relaxation in different postures while connecting with the nature. The weaving of polyester braided cords done in vibrant colors provides a visual appeal to the chair that would enable it to blend in different styles of interiors. The chair gets an identity of an Indian handcrafted piece due to the colors. The chair consists of the upper and lower components that can be dismantled when needed.
