Water Supply follows a very complex network, unfolding various complexities as it is transmitted from the Reservoir to the individual houses. The initial study was based on three basins of rivers Sabarmati, Narmada and Mahi. The Sardar Sarovar water supply network was selected as the network as it caters to one of the largest networks across the country as well as the most recent planning, technologies as well as controversies involved with it. Narmada canal water network is the largest in the world spreading to around 470 kms through main canal and around 3,800 kms via branch and sub branch canal networks, catering to around 28 million people in the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat consisting of 131 urban and 9633 rural areas. The network after water being circulated to main Narmada canal unfolds in three directions, one the water circulation to the urban zones, second the water provided to industrial belts and special economic zones and third the water circulated to the Rural lands and to farmlands for irrigation.
