Because of its significant contributions to the state and the nation, Kochi is often brought up while talking about Kerala in general. This study delves into the spatial issues in the city of Kochi and its outputs. The paradoxical situation in the state and therefore in the city, where significant social welfare achievements have not translated into commensurate economic growth, specially in urban planning sector.The research suggests a prototype Local Area Plan (LAP) model to improve urban livability and development, building on Kochi's strengths and resolving its shortcomings, with the goal of providing other Kerala cities with a reproducible framework.
