A Fortiori Analysis

Objective:  Rural – urban migration and growth in the cities creates for demand of new cities in the coming years. The requirement has been to increase high density to accommodate more people while maintaining live and work environment in a manner that promotes and supports community Available Alternatives:  Development based on experience – manually Putting the experience (case studies) in computer readable algorithms and generate alternatives, access and select the most appropriate with same along with planning principles. The Process1. What?a. Improve connectivity to support high density growth.2. How?a. Develop the urban block in a manner thatI. All types of connectivity is improvedII. The inhabitants are facilitated/made dependent on public transport/pedestrian tracks and cycle tracks.III. Integrated public transport, housing and civic functions, employment and public spaces.IV. Integrate open space networks with amenities and transit and cycle stops.V. Integrate existing and create new attractors to provide connectors and destinations in order to increase walkability around on site which are climate responsive, shaded, active and high visual access.VI. Improve connectivity, infrastructural and socio cultural aspects.VII. Encourage vertical mixed use for diverse and efficient utilisation of plots and increased time period of activities.3. Where? a. Along north south and majorly east west axis4. What is achieved?a. Case Study based algorithm appropriate for Softwares (Rhino, Grasshopper, Ladybug, Kangaroo and others)b. Climate and ecologically responsive, high density, mixed use urban forms were generated (for multiple solutionsc. Spatial quality and social infrastructure were analysed and optimal/best was selected.
