This project being a part of the Swachh Ahmedabad thematic area of the Water & Sanitation Studio on Ahmedabad, targeted the final step of the SWM cycle; i.e. the Closure of the Pirana Dump Site of Ahmedabad. The current open dumpsite has been a menace for the city as Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation have been disposing unsegregated waste in the dumpsite since decades. This has led to the accumulation of 19 Lakh Metric Tonnes of waste in an area of 84 acres. Therefore the major task involved selection of effective technology and providing financing options for the closure.
