With fast growing cities, approaches to design along land-water mediation/edges fail to demonstrate a response to the larger built environment. The relationship between the water edge and the city is often problematic as it separates yet unites high-quality natural systems from the urban sprawl. The developmental approach towards land-water mediation is greatly influenced by the political system in which we operate; the economic use we see for land; our aesthetic preferences; and our social conventions. Rapid urbanisation and developmental activities have brought about complex changes to the overall ecological processes of natural systems and their perception by human society. In the debate between urban designers and ecologists, what misses out is the solution to negotiate between land and water. Hence, this studio attempts at developing the ability to re-connect with a vital system (land and water) and critique the relevance of designed public places along river corridors. "

Stage 2: FINDING AND FOUNDING - analysis the site conditions and finding inference, to take informed design decisions.
Stage 3: DESIGN STRATEGIES - collective investigations and interventions (master plan proposal for riverfront development along Vishwamitri river, Vadodara, Gujarat).
