Normally within the hostel typology there is a certain inadequacy of layering of space, and one has to engage with either a room- mate or group of peers in all spaces. In this hostel typology, complete self-contained units are created for students within varying scales of hostel blocks which are then placed within the larger hostel campus. Within each block is also varying scales of common spaces that can accommodate facilities and choice of engagement.
This is then tested out within the hostel campus in University Area, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
