Gujarat housing board was set up in 1961 to improvise the living standards of the people at affordable prices to help in economic conditions. In Ahmedabad according to the site survey, more than 50% of Shastri nagar is under the ownership of GHB where it has established apartment housing in Shastri nagar some 50 years back to house government employees and provides the infrastructure and all services in the area for decades now. In 2016 GHB proposed a new apartment housing for all income group people in Shastri nagar. The factors drawing people to this area are studied through multiple parameters comprising of history of city, land use patterns, building typology, FSI, jantri rates, road connectivity, infrastructure, jobs and livelihood.
