Navrangpura, a centrally located area is a hub of various commercial and institutional buildings. Located on the western side of Ahmedabad, the area between gandhi bridge and ellis bridge  is considered to be the city center. This area was one of the first areas to be developed according to the town planning scheme. The proposal of Central Business District along ashram road has led to many re-developments and new constructions and also increase in the floor space ratio. The increase in FSI can be seen in the residential fabric as well with many high rise apartments instead of bungalows.
