Rakhial has been evolving since years but few of the major hurdles that have helped shaped it’s path are the rise and fall of mills and the riots of 1989 which lead to the major changes throughout the area and have helped build the Rakhial of today. And one of the major decision that a low or middle-income person makes in today’s scenario is making decision if he wants to take a house near his place of work and spend more on the rent or take a house further away and spend more on the transportation. Transformations of cities have made people fall into this dilemma.This report focuses on an important role played by textile sector of Rakhial in shaping the decision to make a trade-off between the housing and transportation choices of residents of Rakhial and has it been beneficial in the process?
