The journey over the past five exhilarating and enlightening; the studio was akin to a correspondence-course unravelling the different layers of the city. There are various layers of Ranip, Ahmedabad which studied to understand the city like History and evolution, land-use, built form, public realm, infrastructure, etc. Each exercise was different but somehow connected with those conducted earlier. In its attempt to develop a thorough understanding of the city amongst the students, the Studio exercise inculcated a habit of observing the surrounding and deriving inferences based on thorough analysis. The studio focuses on an evidence-based approach for analysing complex urban situation and problems. The exercise included collecting data about 1-km2 allotted neighbourhoods and analysing of the information gathered through primary and secondary research.
