The study profiles Ahmedabad city, the seventh largest metropolis of India. Ahmedabad is the 7th largest a city which develops concentrically. The core of Ahmedabad along river Sabarmati was developed in 1900s. Development plans and town planning schemes have played a major role in development of Ahmedabad. Naranpura is an old residential hub of Ahmedabad city which was formed in 1960s and mostly all residents are residing in the area for at least two generations. The area is located 3km from CEPT University and is centrally located in Ahmedabad. neighborhood comprises of 4 main wards of Ahmedabad namely Naranpura which almost occupies half of the western side of the precinct, Vadaj & Usmanpura (small portion) to the eastern side, Nava Vadaj and Memangar (small portion) to northern side and southern side respectively. The entire region is located west of Sabarmati river front and is one of the oldest residential area in Ahmedabad which mainly constitutes of independent houses, semi-detached, apartments, row houses and slums and is home to people of all economic status. Residential area is complemented by varied set of spaces like kids’ parks, gardens, schools, hospitals, religious places, and markets qualifying the area for a good neighborhood.
