Urbanization is the crucial factor for understanding any city in India. The portfolio is based on the foundation studio of ‘Understanding the city’. The study is focused on the 1 km square area of Rau town which gives an overview of the current scenario of the budding city. It encompasses evolution of city and the determinants responsible for its evolution. As a part of studio I have came across various urban parameters like street network, land use and built form, public realm, supporting infrastructure services, housing and livelihood and problems associated with it. For the empirical analysis of the study area I have used the satellite imagery, Google maps and GIS tools to analyze the actual conditions of the ground. The humble people of Rau also help in answered the required questions.
