The commencement of the ‘Development Plan Studio’ involves conducting a comprehensive assessment of the current planning process in Bhopal for the foreseeable future. Upon examining the urban development plan and its framework, we noted certain challenges that could hinder the city’s progress in undertaking this project. Furthermore, the fact that the Development Plan 2031 remains in the draft phase highlights a failure to address these obstacles adequately. Despite Bhopal’s reputation as both an “Institutional Hub” and a “Retirement City,” the issue of limited employment opportunities persists. Consequently, the concept of an Inclusive City has gained traction, aiming to foster affordability, connectivity, and accessibility, thereby propelling the city towards expansion.
