DEVELOPMENT PLAN SURAT 2046

Development Plan (DP) Studio is the primitive stage of planning in India. It is statutory in nature. It is generally designed for 20 years according to vision of the city, integrating all the major planning sectors like transport, infrastructure, housing. The studio provides students to foster ideas that are out to the box yet applicable in the Indian scenario. There were multiple stakeholder consultation meetings that were carried during the semester with private developers, government officials, residents and planning experts. From history, Surat has strong economic base. Moreover, it has potential to grow further if the areas around major projects like DFC and HSR is planned well. A liberal approach is adopted  with minimal regulations, like no FSI on TOD and HSR areas, that will boost economic growth.
Furthermore, transportation proposals to connect the growth potential,  infrastructure, heritage plan, and various other layers of development plan is also covered in the portfolio.
