The Development Plan studio intends to bring to the student a spectrum of perspectives that guide them as planners to approach the idea of planning a city. In the containment of the studio as well as with frequent exposure, through authorized officials, several crucial questions regarding planning the city were put to task and tackled through the exercises pertaining to the curriculum. Building therefore on the faculty of the studio exercises the student was exposed towards the various complexities that are contained within and without the limits of planning. The exercises, as well as this portfolio, in this manner were subjected to an overall comprehension of the subject by the study of various city development plans- around the world, in comparison to each other. This was thereafter streamlined into an on ground scenario of drafting the development plan for the city of Surat (SUDA region) for the year 2041.
