The Development Plan studio was dissected into three segments. The first segment involved planning a precinct area of 1 sq. km. This study involved analyzing an area of 1 sq.km in Ahmedabad and identifying various short and long term proposals. The exercise equipped with first stage of planning interventions at a neighborhood level. The second segment involved case studies of Master plans within and outside India. This exercise founded thoughts questioning the conventional master planning process adopted in Indian cities. The third segment involved making a Development Plan for Rajkot city. It was further broken down in various stages that included secondary data and primary data collection. These site visits exposed to know the actual growth scenario and stakeholders were a major link to decode the reasons beneath the existing growth trends. Discussions and debates in the class helped perceive different viewpoints for FSI, housing and Infrastructure. All these methodologies helped shape a robust, unconventional Development Plan for Rajkot.
