The studio project dealt with the planning of a fringe region of Ahmedabad while accommodating for expansion of the urban region. Located on the northeast of Ahmedabad, the site of Hanspura is currently under agricultural use and is an agglomeration of three villages. Considering the rapid expansion of Indian cities, a planning strategy that could ensure orderly growth was required to be formulated. However, it was realized that a single strategy may not be viable for every urban expansion project considering how drastically the context varies from one region to another. Catering to the northeast region it became clear that the area is majorly an industrial hub with little other market investment. With very little incentive for investment, the area has largely been wiped out of the middle-class everyday experience of the city and a needs urgent attention in order to be an integrated part of the wider context.
