Today, most of the Indian cities are growing rapidly in terms of population and therefore expanding physically. Increasing urban population and the growing urban incomes are fueling demand for more built floor space in cities accompanied by a demand for infrastructure. Such demand in current Indian scenario can be met primarily by focusing on two ways of urban expansions. One, peripheral urban expansion in Greenfield areas, and second, infill, redevelopment and up gradation of existing urban areas. Here, we looked at infill through Local Area Planning approach for proposed metro corridor at Ahmadabad.
