Continuity & Change

The studio aims to explore different design aspects impacting urban growth in the Shahpur-Mirzapur region using Local Area Plans (LAP). Situated at the heart of a city founded in the early 15th century, this area boasts a varied mix of commerce, business, administration, and heritage tourism. Being a vibrant heritage city, the old town's lively yet disorderly atmosphere continues to draw a population that surpasses its capacity. To present the envisioned change for this area, the project concentrates on the northern section, encompassing the Sidi Sayyid Mosque and Sardar Bagh near the Ashram CBD. The endeavor focuses on transforming the Sidi Sayyid Mosque and Sardar Bagh Precinct into a thriving CBD within Ahmedabad's Walled City, utilizing underused public spaces and capitalizing on public transportation connectivity potential.
