The ward under study is Behrampura, which is situated in the southern part of Ahmedabad. The major land use type found is Industrial and development expected is oriented towards the same. Since 1980, open dumping is resorted to on 90 hectares of open dumping land at Pirana, Narol in an unscientific manner. Pirana presently covers 90hectares and is 55metres high. The proposal focuses on improving health aspects of the ward by managing the existing city level dumpsite Pirana and improving as well as strengthening the existing solid waste management system in the city so that waste is efficiently managed and reduced so as to prevent another Pirana from being created.
