This studio is proposed on main objective to prepare structural engineers having strong fundamentals, to have knowledge of theory-applications of various engineering aspects of bridge design. Studio will commence with learning various types of bridges across world. It will emphasis on traditional bridges constructed more in field so student is ready to work immediately. Requirement of bridges (River Bridge, FOB, ROB) will be discussed so students can adapt suitable configuration for problem they are assigned. Analysis, structural behaviour and design methodology of bridge components will be elaborated. Studio will cover in depth knowledge of preparing structural drawings to execute bridge based on design. Different exercises covering variety of traditional bridges will be given to students to make them reach final output. Students will be enlightened with specific Indian standards of bridges such as IRC 5, 6, 78, 112 & SP 114. Software Analysis will be verified with manual calculations. Comparison and analysis of various exercises given to students will be done. Geotech interpretation will be explained which in turn decides type of foundation needs to be selected at particular location. Final output of studio will be in terms of design conceptualization, optimization, manual calculations, software model and Structural Drawings.
