PADMA CHAYA : Emergency Shelter

This studio taught concepts of deployment. starting from case studies I explored different types of joineries and mechanism. I explored Origami and Scissor mechanisms with lots of models.  In the final exercise I designed a shelter named Padma Chaya. The project is about a deployable shelter. The name of the project itself suggests the use. The name ‘Padma Chaya’ which means lotus shelter is a deployable emergency shelter that can be used largely in disaster management and temporary hospitals. The structure deploys like a lotus from its initial stages resulting in a big shelter.
