Assessment of Conservation Practices and Management of Concrete Structures of Historical Significance

Concrete structures are a relatively newer addition to the world of construction, but their historical and architectural importance cannot be overlooked. As a result, the preservation and restoration of these structures require significant attention. However, the process is not without its challenges, including inadequate documentation, material decay, compatibility issues with repair materials, the possibility of over-restoration, long-term maintenance demands, and cultural considerations. Therefore, it is critical to closely examine and evaluate modern conservation practices and effectively manage such structures to ensure their continued significance. In order to preserve historic structures, it's important to strike a balance between maintaining their cultural and architectural significance while also ensuring their structural safety. Achieving this balance requires minimal intervention and a detailed condition assessment to identify the root cause of any structural issues, determine appropriate intervention methods, and develop long-term maintenance plans. This research project will analyze various case studies to address these challenges and find effective solutions.
