HVAC LAB | Spring Semester 2024

The HVAC Lab provides a comprehensive education on Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) concepts, emphasizing energy efficiency. Lectures cover a range of topics including the refrigeration cycle, types of HVAC systems, load calculation, airflow measurements, ventilation, and indoor air quality. The Measurement and Experimentation (M&E) component offers a practical approach to measuring infiltration and ventilation rates, air pollutants, flow rates, and monitoring refrigeration cycle and power consumption. The Building Simulation module teaches how to analyze HVAC systems, understand their performance, and assess their impact on building performance. The Portfolio summarizes the semester's learnings, including theoretical understandings of HVAC concepts, practical experiences with instruments for M&E, and the simulation process for HVAC system optimization. Through experiments, case studies, and hands-on practice, students develop a deep understanding of HVAC principles and their real-world applications in designing energy-efficient systems.
