The Passive Comfort Lab provides fundamental knowledge on building physics, heat transfer principles and thermal comfort analysis, with the initial conceptual knowledge and assignments, it then focuses on hands-on experiments and exercises focused on the course project: the design and construction of a 1m3 volume that can be used as a prototype for conducting experiments on building envelope. The course also provides us with a foundation in software oriented practices for thermal comfort evaluation and building simulations, and feasibility of various passive measures like shading, natural ventilation, natural materials, etc. Selected works from the studio have been included in the portfolio.
