The Government of India had entrusted to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), under Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highway (MOSRT&H), the development of highways under National Highways Development Projects (NHDP) and as part of this endeavour, the authority has decided for Four laning of Bhavnagar-Talaja section of NH-8E from km 7.090 to km 53.585 (Design Ch. from km 6.945 to km 54.990) in the state of Gujarat on Hybrid Annuity Mode under NHDP Phase-IV. The project corridor is located in the State of Gujarat. The project corridor starts from Bhavnagar near Budhel Chokdi (existing km 7.090 of NH-8E) and ends at Talaja (existing km 53.585 of NH-8E). The total length of project road is approximately 48.045 km. The project corridor passes through the towns/ villages Budhel, Kobadi, Bhandaria, Tansa, Rajpura, Trapaj and Talaja. The present carriageway of the project highway is a 2-lane carriageway with earthen shoulder and is proposed to be widened to four lane with paved shoulder configuration.
