From Street to Structure : Evolution of Sunday Market

Manek Burj, a historic structure near Ahmedabad`s old city and the Sunday Market, lacks a physical connection to the nearby city market. Historically, a market existed close to the fort wall staircase, providing access to the Sunday Market, but today this link is missing. The proposed idea is to create a gallery space that serves as a bridge between the two markets. This space will showcase the evolution of the Sunday Market while offering public seating for rest and gathering. It aims to reconnect the historic market, enhance the visitor experience, and create a meaningful pause point between the two.
