Semiprivate to Pol is as Armor to Core.The armor-core relationship is symbiotic. The core provides the formal identity while the armor protects by withstanding stress, and pressure. Set in a Pol typology, where the semiprivate existed as verandahs and otlas, commercialization led to erosion of the privacy gradient over time. This project revives it through a Residential Research Centre, anchored by a datum at 6.5m as a communal refuge, accessible from neighboring roofs. The datum pours down as a stereotomic mass, connecting the roof and street. Informed by pol anthropometry, the mass extends existing homes and fosters shared semiprivate activity.
