WRAPPING : Revamping a Dormant Hostel

Wrapping is a process of creating a relationship between the core and its outer layer. As a response to the Indo-Saracenic buildings in GU campus, this project revives a 105m abandoned hostel by wrapping it with core services and social spaces. The technique of wrapping—through cuts and folds—creates platforms and seating on the northern community spaces, encouraging interaction with the existing hostel rooms. On the south side, the same gestures define functional pockets like washrooms and pantries, while shaping light and enhancing the spatial quality of the rooms.
