Held by Light

Held by Light is a highway rest stop in Leh, designed as an immersive experience that balances extreme climatic conditions with human comfort. Using passive solar strategies, the design maximizes sun exposure, integrates thermal mass, and employs sculptural wind-block walls to manage harsh winds. Semi-enclosed circulation spaces create a sensory journey, enhancing comfort through thermal contrasts, while sloping wooden roofs reflect local traditions and protect from snow.
