LUMORA - Highway Reststop At Leh

The project, located in Leh Ladakh, is a highway rest stop designed with a strong focus on climate responsiveness. It features diverse spaces—including dining, kitchen, lounge, and nursery—each conceived on a thermal perception scale and placed on varying levels to reflect their thermal needs. Volume, light, and spatial arrangements were guided by thermal comfort and environmental context. The design emphasizes climatic orientation, passive heating strategies, and the use of locally appropriate materials to ensure thermal stability and energy efficiency. The design integrates with the harsh and cold Ladakhi climate while offering functional and comfortable spaces for travelers throughout the year.
