This studio focuses on designing for thermal comfort in extreme climates, using Leh as the site. The project begins with abstract modeling to study passive design strategies, leading to the development of a highway rest stop that responds to local environmental conditions. Emphasis is placed on building orientation, particularly facing south to maximize solar heat gain during cold months. The design integrates elements like thermal mass, insulation, and strategic openings to enhance user comfort. Through climate-responsive architecture, the project aims to provide a functional and sustainable rest stop that ensures comfort for travelers in harsh weather conditions.
