This study investigates how specific spatial characteristics such as scale, orientation, visual connectivity, and proximity to residential units affect social interactions within communal spaces of high-rise residences in Ahmedabad. Drawing upon studies like Huang's (2006) research on courtyard designs in Taipei, which revealed that only 15.63% of observed residents engaged in social interactions, highlighting the phenomenon of social withdrawal in poorly designed communal areas, this study aims to contextualize these findings within Ahmedabad's unique socio-cultural and climatic landscape.
