Resilience Thrift - Assembly, disassembly and circular construction for irregular contexts
To investigate how new modes of circular procurement and construction can enable
cheap, easy and beautiful alterations to be made to houses in informal settlements.
The research supports the larger project of designing retrofits to improve climatic
resilience in informal settlements - this is an urgent problem which must be
addressed by architects and not only by engineers. Performance and qualitative
design together offer more powerful transformative potential than purely engineering
based solutions.
