Antechamber: In between the Becoming

Rooted in the triad of work, prayer, and communal life, the dormitory reflects a tension between individuality and community. explores how architecture shapes the transitional journey of an individual becoming a monk—an in-between state where discipline and disorder co-exist. Parallel walls assert order and control, while modular interventions introduce gentle dissonance—disrupting uniformity to create moments of introspection. The architecture acts as a vessel for transformation, offering anonymity and seclusion. A central community space functions as a spatial datum, connecting past and present, reinforcing continuity within change, and anchoring the individual's inward journey through ritual, reflection, and quiet spatial rhythm.
