Preserving Presence: Tagore Precinct

TAGORE PRECINCT: Undertaking revitalization—both through physical restoration and by fostering community engagement within its precinct—can reestablish its relevance and reaffirm its status as an actively utilized heritage site. By introducing gentle berms and transitional pavements, the proposal re-establishes vital links across the site by enabling thoroughfare and shortening the distance between neighbourhood spaces. Creating a welcoming threshold by providing pathways between public and built space. Enhancing public transport nodes near the site which can easily connect the rest of the city to the Tagore complex. Activating the complex through inclusive community programs like art and craft exhibition areas, Performance and gathering spaces, Informal interactive zones for all age groups. Reopening the auditorium as a universally accessible venue not only revitalizes the site but also increase its capacity and restores its role as a cultural and social catalyst for the neighborhood.
