Role of ornamentation in interior trends

Ornament is an abstract rhythm of structure and it belongs to the interior world os constructive
elements – Frank Lloyd Wright
The 21 st century school of thought in the field of interior design has established ornamentation as
an intrinsic part of space-making, moving away from the modernist eye that viewed the ornament
as an afterthought. This is an attempt to understand geometry as a principle mechanism that
underpins ornamentation and its production.
Geometry is used as the theoretical framework to meticulously analyze its historical trajectories
and how it has shaped the dictionary of ornamentation in interior space.
Geometry claims the role of the protagonist, in this of decoding its undeniable its relationship with
the formulation of the ornamental structure throwing light on mathematical principles, motifs and
fractals and delving into methods equipped by Louis Sullivan’s work in adapting modular systems
derived from nature. Formal geometry can invent a new order of formulating the ornament and
addressing how cultures have been deriving esoteric meanings from principles of sacred geometry
(stemming from abstracting the larger cosmic order). The examination to capture the essence of
ornament as a manifestation of geometric rigor calibrating is role in the realms of generative
design, revealing its potential future trajectory in the new age of account that will create a dialogue
between ornament and its non-static relationship with geometry formally, structurally, spatially and
materially.
