FIT. FORM. FLEX.

This project explores the formal and functional potential of auxetic patterns—structures that expand laterally when stretched. Beginning with parametric pattern generation in Grasshopper, the study analyzes material behavior, bistability, and failure points across jute, TPU, foam, leather, and denim. Foam emerged as the most effective material. Applications range from protective modular packaging to aesthetic product wrapping, with a focus on edge resolution and form fitting. The project culminates in the development of auxetic skins for double-curved surfaces using photogrammetry and strategic pattern cutting. It integrates computational design with tactile experimentation to elevate auxetics as both function and brand identity.
