Kerfolia

Kerfolia is a modular lighting system created through kerfing—a technique that transforms flat acrylic sheets into flexible, curving forms. Inspired by the elegance of pinch geometry, the design uses convergent curvature to form sculptural modules that revolve around a central light source. These units tessellate in customizable patterns, casting dynamic shadows and adapting to various spatial needs. Entirely flat-pack and tool-free, Kerfolia emphasizes ease of fabrication, transport, and assembly. The project explores how kerfing can shape both structure and surface, using digital fabrication to merge function with expressive form.
