CALESH : THE EVOLUTION GAMBIT

This speculative board game duo, set in a post-human dystopia, critiques transhumanism and ecological collapse through interactive play. Techanism Ascent (Ludo-inspired) challenges players to build biomechanical "Techanisms" by harvesting dismembered body parts, navigating moral trade-offs between efficiency and empathy. Chaos Climb (Snakes & Ladders-inspired) tasks players with ascending a biomechanical hierarchy, evading nature’s glitches while balancing tech upgrades. Both games dissect themes of dehumanization, biopolitics, and nature’s rebellion, questioning the cost of progress in systems that commodify bodies and erase identity. Together, they ask: Can we transcend the Machine’s control, or do we become its architects? A visceral exploration of power, ethics, and resistance.

As an introduction to the Introduction to the Biopunk Futures, we analysed 2 biopunk movies and studied and analyzed the works 5 bio-designers!

Breaking down existing soft machines to their nature of existence and utilising the very identified essence to intuitively collage and transform these machines into biopunk systems while still retaining the nature of their essence

From machines to world-building softmachine: Collages were recombined meaningfully based on common thematic focuses, with having identified the processes, inputs, and outputs shaping the machine.

Positioning the Machine on the Future's Cone while still it is 'IN SITU' of transforming into a complete BIOPUNK MACHINE and simplifyinf the jargons to make it more accessible and understandable

Reflections : what does this machine make available? Looking back to analyse the steps we traced and see what discourse and themes the machine makes available in order to identify potential points of intervention

Building the context of the world, strengtehning the premise and the narrative and identifying yet again, the critique being commented upon through this process

Conceptualizing the game mechanics with respect to the defined premise, and refining it further until it serves the purpose of discourse

Prototyping and testing the gameplays and physically choreographing the discourse to be presented

You are welcome, to take a look and understand the premise of the final Biopunk world of 'techanisms' - half machines, half organisms......
