This studio explores how public spaces are made and what essential qualities define good ones. Through first-hand and second-hand data, we study two contrasting 5000 sqm sites—Vastrapur Lake and Vasna.Vastrapur, a natural attraction, is envisioned as a garden-like, non-commercial space with nature trails and elevated walkways that celebrate biodiversity. In contrast, Vasna’s undefined edges and disconnected spaces call for pedestrian-first streets, interactive hubs, and tranquil green zones. Both proposals aim to create inclusive, accessible, and ecologically sensitive public spaces, helping us understand the core principles of urban design through context-responsive interventions and layered public life.
