Sangam Samanvay: Dialogues in Public Space

The design proposals for two urban public spaces Vastrapur and Vasna reimagined through the lens of Jan Gehl’s human-centered design principles. Both sites, located in Ahmedabad, represent distinct yet connected urban challenges and opportunities. Vastrapur, with its iconic lake, holds potential for ecological restoration and vibrant social life, while Vasna, a dense and dynamic neighborhood, calls for inclusive and connective public spaces. Grounded in detailed site analysis, user behavior mapping, and contextual factors, the design process prioritizes walkability, comfort, safety, and accessibility. These proposals aim to transform everyday urban experiences by creating inviting, engaging, and context-sensitive spaces that foster community, enhance well-being, and celebrate the unique identity of each site.
